Well, the season is off to a good start. One race down, one win. It sounds pretty good but the truth is that the race at Portland on March 10 was a gift we may or maynot have deserved. We were lucky to have old friends and team mates back with us at the track, (Eric Johnson and John Skuja) both did a lot to help get us on the track and keep our spirits up through the cold and wet raceday. After Eric helped me put the engine back together, a broken cylinder stud found in the weekend befores race prep, we got out on the track and started to shake the cob webs out of the kart and Bill. They both responded well and after minor adjustments we were ready for the race. We were still trying to decide on wet or dry set up when Bill remembered we had not gone through tech. After a hurried tech inspection, it was time to line up for the race. It naturally started to rain as we were sitting on the grid, but not heavy enough to effect the racing line. Bill got a good start and ran a strong 5 or 6 laps before coming in. We were the only 250 there so why risk the equipment. Like I said before, I'm not sure we deserved the win, but we'll take it just same thank you. Thanks again to Eric and John for there help and support. It makes the races easier and much more fun. It seems we will miss the next race as Bill will be in Hawaii on vacation, life's tough, so its lucky for us to get that first win. Maybe Eric and I will steal the van and go to Seattle ourselves and see how well the young fart can run. Its a new season and anything seems posable. As always, drive fast and take chances.
